I want to start off by discussing the issue of her first love. Despite the ambiguity, I’m still sure Songhwa’s first love is Ikjun. It’s simple, but writers are delaying this obvious fact to keep us engaged

Since they’re prolonging the reveal, it’s gonna be significant. Which is why her first love CANNOT be Junwan/Jeongwon. Jwan has a SEPARATE love arc already and making him her first love is going to unnecessarily entangle him in this, which the writer WONT do #HospitalPlaylist
Who Songhwas first love is WILL matter. The effects of seokhyung liking Songhwa still manifest in the present day when he’s shown to interrupt moments bw Ikjun/Songhwa all the time. Those dynamics still play a part. And so will Songhwa’s first love’s. #HospitalPlaylist
So if someone else in the group is revealed to have been her first love, it’s a pretty big deal. Very likely she still has *some* feelings for them given they’ve all been together for so long. Won’t it be too much to focus on Jwan’s relationship with Iksun and ALSO with Songhwa?
Songhwa also gets whatever she sets her mind to. Why would she not have gotten Junwan/Jeongwon in the past? The only reason she didn’t get Ikjun is bc he willingly distanced himself frm her. What reason would the other 2 have had? There’s no way Songhwa didn’t go down w/o a fight
I dont see a similar situation happening with other people in the group given they wouldnt have reason to reject Songhwa like Ikjun did. Shes attractive & straightforward - she could get any man she wanted. And she was almost did - Ikjun just backed away last min bc of seokhyung
Seeing how Songhwa keeps emphasizing the past as ‘memories’ tells me she wants the past to stay as past. Unlike Ikjun, for whom the past is pretty much the present, SHwa views it nostalgically as if it’s sth far away. Like her feelings for Ikjun. #HospitalPlaylist
Imo, the love is there, she’s just had to repress it and convince herself to live with it. Now she’s hesitant to unearth those feelings again. Feelings that she’s had to convince are long-gone. Are they rlly though? SHwa wouldn’t be this conflicted if she hadn’t also liked him 
About Chihong. I don’t even see him as a serious contender at this point bc the purpose of his love for Songhwa isn’t to be a foil for Ikjun but rather to fuel his own development as a person. Yes, this love triangle serves more of a purpose for HIM. #HospitalPlaylist
It’s exploring his professional & personal growth as a doctor through his complicated relationship with a mentor he likes. Chihong needs to realize that his calling as a doctor is more important than his romantic pursuit of Songhwa which is what Songhwa wants him to know as well.
For this, Hospital Playlist is brilliant. Chihong is not JUST a second male lead. He’s his own character and person. Writers are showing us the complicated dynamics of mentor-mentee relationships like theirs, bc they DO exist.
This ep also made me realize just how perfectly suited Songhwa and Ikjun are for each other, and why this is the only prof-prof couple we have. They’re both the most emotionally stable of the five, and the true anchors. I wasn’t kidding when I called them the parents of the group
They solve everyone’s problems, but when it comes to their own, they have noone to rely on but each other, eg. breast cancer scare/sick uju. All the couples are perfectly balanced, and there’s no one who matches Songhwa’s level of maturity & self-sufficiency as well as Ikjun 
Ikjun knows EXACTLY how to handle Songhwa. Songhwa is portrayed as flawless but any perceptive person can see that she isn’t entirely... #HospitalPlaylist
Songhwa has a habit of doing everything herself - her flaw is never asking anyone for help. Ikjun perfectly deals with this by saying nothing and just SHOWING up. Because homegirl DOES need support, she just doesn’t like asking for it. I know bc I’m the same

This is a minor one since it’s played for laughs but tbh the way Songhwa wolfs her food down lowkey carries a choking/indigestion risk 
Ikjun’s the only one who’s managed to slow her down like that and that’s bc he’s the only one who gets through to her

This is why Ikjun wins out of all the suitors the show has and WILL have for Songhwa. I’m getting sad and soft at how domestic and in sync as a couple they truly are. How they’re not married yet is beyond me, bc they practically act like they are #IkSong MY OTP FOR LIFE
