Rioters burned DC in 1968. It took 40 years for the city to recover.

And it some ways, it never did.

Some of the burned out areas had crumbing buildings and vacancies for decades.

Tens of thousands of people left town never to return.

The city was literally gutted. https://twitter.com/CassandraRules/status/1266236972042874880
What happens when a city is gutted?

Those with means leave, those without remain.

Crime, drugs, and despair move in.

In DC the entire middle class left town, black and white.

All that remained were mostly poor blacks and a few rich whites.

Both were cloistered and isolated.
The tax base erodes. Services decline. Lawlessness fills the air.

Streets become borders between the haves & the have nots.

Segregation increases. Conflict rises. Anger Intensifies.

Things get so bad that folks just abandon their properties. Those who stay bar their doors.
The big difference between 1968 and 2020 is that in 2020, Corona already has city folks with means eyeing an escape. They work remotely now. The benefits of city life have already been diminished.

The allure of the countryside + possibility of remote work means ⬆️ zoom flight.
The race riots are coming in 2020 whether anyone wants them or not. This is important to understand. Most people want no part of this nonsense, yet it will persist.

Call it the Summer of Rage or the Long Hot Summer 2.0, but 2020's election year summer is going to hurt.
