Hello! Here's my daily look at coronavirus stats globally.

Today:

- Lockdowns ending everywhere.
- Even in places where it's really bad!
- California does not have this under control.
- Brazil, Russia, India still not at the peak.

Thread...
The big picture: Deaths remain in decline globally although that decline has slowed.
The US: Deaths remain broadly in decline although the pace of the decline is choppy.
Illinois: May be moving past the worst of it.
Illinois had 409 deaths per million — nearly as bad as Sweden. [Chart from Pantheon]
California: Very worrying. No sign that the peak is in the past.
California: You can see how bad the Calif. situation is here.
Ark, SC and Wisc: The crisis moves into the states.
Brazil: Still not at the peak.
Russia: Deaths still rising even though cases have plateaued. (Some questions over the government's handling of the numbers.)
Canada: Struggling. Past the peak. But declines are slow and difficult. Cases are in slow decline but deaths remain stubbornly elevated.
The UK: Deaths still in decline but pace of decline has slowed.
Afghanistan: Heading into the crisis.
Saudi Arabia: Is reopening the mosques. Deaths are still rising, however.
Singapore: Is handling this well. Past the peak and very few deaths.
India: Very grim. No sign of a peak yet.
The UAE: These death stats don't look realistic. Mosques are reopening anyway!
Others:

Spain: good

Italy: good

France: good

Germany: good

China: good

S Korea: good

Turkey: good.

Look up your own country at Worldometers. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries
And finally ... Sweden: Deaths are past the peak and in slow decline. That's good news.

But Sweden's performance was far worse than most - it had the 6th worse death rate of any large country, far higher than the US.
