I’m so glad I quit working for @Target when I did. Anybody who works there and is aware at all already knows they’ve got a problem with racism built into the company (like when a manager at my store called an employee the n-word and corporate decided that wasn’t a big deal)
But to see how target denied protesters who had been tear gassed the ability to buy milk? How badly must you hate the people in your community? Target actively funds the Minnesota Police Dept and has since 2004 too.
“Panhandlers, people drinking alcohol ok the street, and other ‘lifestyle offenders’ roamed the streets. Even though there was relatively little violent crime in the downtown area, people tended not to feel safe or comfortable there” Literally that’s just a bunch of dog whistles
It’s not new or surprising information that a major corporation doesn’t care about the lives of black or brown people. It’s not surprising that they don’t care about the people in their hometown they claim to be so proud of.
On a side note. Undercover police will join a protest and try to whip the protesters into a frenzy and will try to start violence. It’s happening in Minnesota right now. Cops are also trying to cut cell towers so people can’t broadcast or stream what’s happening.
Cops need protests to get these bad reputations so that pieces of shit like @charliekirk11 will say some shit abt them “losing credibility” for being violent. Cops will turn protests violent so the uncomfortable whites will say “oh well it’s now what MLK would’ve wanted”
I’ve been kind of all over the place in this thread because it’s 5 am and I just woke up, but it’s also very hard to try to parse this into specifics since systematic racism is like a web connecting things
But remember when I said that abt undercover cops infiltrating protests? There are many reports of this happening, but don’t worry, the offending police depts are looking into it.
Look at this shit. First off, “thugs”. Second, “when the looting starts, the shooting starts” is the most disgusting thing I’ve heard in a long time. There’s so much to unpack in this tweet. Protesting the murder of George Floyd is honoring his memory. Period. But..
