It& #39;s kinda sad that you negate #BlackLivesMatter
https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt=""> posts because you think we& #39;re promoting negative stereotypes of cops despite their efforts in maintaining peace and order in society.
Hun, you& #39;re missing the point.
Hun, you& #39;re missing the point.
Firstly, calling out the bad cops out of the big bunch isn& #39;t promoting the idea that cops are bad. Instead, it is an act of demanding responsibility for inhumane acts towards a targeted good.
(Besides, if the shoe fits, wear it.)

Initially, cops are sworn to office with the oath of serving and protecting the public. We& #39;re even paying them via taxes to do these duties.
So it& #39;s only right that our default images of cops should be "individuals who represent justice in society"—a good image to boot.
So it& #39;s only right that our default images of cops should be "individuals who represent justice in society"—a good image to boot.
However, this "good image" (positive stereotype) gets tainted. Why?
Stereotypes are often attached to a group and its members partly due to how a perceiver (i.e. group outsider, not a cop) evaluates the action of a group member or the group as a collective.
However, these evaluations and judgments are hinged on/stemming from the individual member& #39;s (individualistic) or the group& #39;s (collective) actions.
To illustrate,
cops = arrest law-breakers, so cop A must be a justice-loving cop
also
cop A = arrests law-breakers, so cops must be justice-loving professions in general

Transpose the individualistic/collective behavior to a negative one AND create a personal negative judgment out of the observed behavior, you will:
A) break the "good cop stereotype"
B) strengthen the "bad cop stereotype"
A) break the "good cop stereotype"
B) strengthen the "bad cop stereotype"
So to say that observers are at fault for perpetuating negative stereotypes of cops is only half the truth.
Sure, personal biases come to play. But it does not hide the fact that there are cops who behave badly and these actions in turn help strengthen the "bad cop stereotype"

So before ka musulti nga naa sa perceiver/observer ang sayop, sis icheck sa jud kung morally right ba ang gibuhat sa cop kay basin siya jud ang sayop ug siya ang reason ngano negative ang stereotype sa cops.

Next, although only a single case (Floyd& #39;s case) was highlighted by media, it still represents the situations of our brethren of color, which some of them experience daily.
They did not choose to be black. But here they are, receiving violent treatments because they are stereotyped negatively.
Because truth is, stereotypes lead to action.
Negative stereotype by percever = negative actions toward stereotyped group/group member.

Sugot ka di ka madawat sa imong trabaho kay "singkit ka", "bati imong apilido", "babae ka", "bisaya ka"? All because your employer has negative stereotypes on & #39;singkits& #39;, & #39;females& #39;, and & #39;bisayas& #39;.
Diba dili?
Diba dili?
Unfortunately, that& #39;s what happened to Floyd. Accdg to reports, he was apprehended just because he was black (tho this claim needs more proof). Regardless if this violence brought by negative stereotype was true or not, it still cost his life.
Personally, I consider Floyd& #39;s case to be lucky because it was documented and caught on camera. He could& #39;ve defended himself on court with those videos. But he was still dead.
Floyd& #39;s case was JUST a representative of the social injustice that POCs endure. That& #39;s just one case, caught on cam, in just one day, in just one city, in just one state.
Imagine those POCs who couldn& #39;t defend themselves kay way vid?
So go ahead and figure the statistics.

Floyd was already an underpriviledged person in society just because he was black. Imagine depriving him of justice by refusing his right to lawful and peaceful arrest (even death) despite compliance and civil behaviors. That& #39;s just pushing him further to the outskirts of society
If you think police brutality as a result of baseless racism isn& #39;t a real problem, and the cops& #39; welfare are more important in this case, then I think it& #39;s time for you to really get to know the situation of these real people and be exposed to reality.
Sis, you& #39;re a privileged person who has the internet at your disposal. There are loads of news re: violence related to racism (and discrimination). A few clicks on the internet and you& #39;ll receive a results page flooded with these types of articles.
If this isn& #39;t a global problem, then what was the purpose of the civil rights movement back then? And why did so many people have to defend their rights even to death?
If this doesn& #39;t affect you at a personal level, then good for you. If you don& #39;t experience extreme discrimination, you& #39;re blessed.
If you still think the good cops& #39; positive image are more important than the loss of a POC& #39;s life, feel free to believe that. Wa nakoy mabuhat.

But please check your privilege jud. There& #39;s too much faux positivity coming from you to the point that you& #39;re turning a blind eye from the injustices of society.
PS. It& #39;s been a year since i left MA school so sayup2 jud na akong explanation. Please feel free to correct me ~gently~
