Equilibrium is at the heart of any stable system. The separation of powers was the greatest gift given to us by the American forefathers. It is what prevents the monopolization of power in government. Too little cooperation leads anarchy and too much leads to authoritarianism.

...system in all aspects, but one, monopoly. Ultimately, efficiency drives competition out of markets leading to a concollidation of power. All consolidations of power under one person, place, or thing are monopolies of a sort and they all lead to the destruction of equilibrium.
This is why there has always been anti-trust regulation to prevent monopolies in our economic system. However, how do you regulate something that operates outside your authority. Today's multinational corporations are not your companies of yesterday. Monopolies were difficult...
...enough to prevent under the nation state, but combined with globalism we now face a beast that can now manipulate governments, media, economies, healthcare, science, elections, etc.all to one end, absolute power. And as Lord Acton stated, "Absolute power, corrupts absolutely."
