An angry thread directed towards North American "progressive" academic philosophers.

This influential psychologist, Diane Ehrensaft, works with children. She thinks gender identity is expressed pre-verbally. There's no good evidence for this - and yes/ https://twitter.com/SwipeWright/status/1266255236055744512
I've read the "research". It's appallingly bad.

Here's Ehrensaft talking about cross-sex hormones for kids. Does this not raise ANY red flags for you? (The reference to suicide risk is propaganda. Suicide rare and causation always hard to establish)/ https://www.kidsinthehouse.com/teenager/health-and-development/puberty/puberty-blockers-and-hormones-for-transgender-youth
This is Johanna Olson-Kennedy, Medical Director of The Center for Transyouth Health and Development at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She refers girls as young as 13 for radical mastectomies because they identify as boys.
Here is Olson-Kennedy saying on camera that if a child who has had a mastectomy regrets the loss later, they can just get breast implants, NBD
If your looking away from this terrible stuff depends on a fantasy of no-one ever regretting it, don't kid yourself. My feed is full of detransitioners who regret it. Some have had mastectomies or hysterectomies, barely out of teens (not going to invade their privacy by linking).
And this is only the effects of Gender Identity Theory on *children*! Gender Identity Theory says your inner "gender identity" is fundamental determinant of rights and dignity, and determines your legal and political status. For EVERYONE. It says talk of sex should be suppressed/
or it says sex doesn't exist as we used to think it does. This has HUGE ramifications for policy, on children, on gay people ("gay" and "lesbian' now defined by GLAAD in terms of same-gender-identity-attraction not same-sex attraction), on women's rights... yet you prefer to
find solace in portentous cliches about "listening to trans lived experience". WHICH trans people? They have minds of own! They differ. There's nothing more transphobic than way you people treat trans people as infantilised pets.

Anyway..there's now an established view in US/
amongst the worthies in academic philosophy that I'm a pariah or should be. According to Quill Kukla (Georgetown), I shouldn't be rationally engaged with. According to Sally Haslanger (MIT) my book review (on subject nothing to do with trans) shouldn't have been published. When/
an anon grad published open letter saying they're leaving the profession because of me (It couldn't possibly be because the job market is terrible, could it??), it was shared enthusiastically by senior people & on blogs for the profession. Recently I discovered Robin Dembroff/
(Yale) has forthcoming publication with following actionable claim:
"a number of high-profile court briefing opposing trans rights in both the US and the UK cite blog posts by philosophers such as Kathleen Stock..as evidence that trans persons are dangerous and deluded"./
Yesterday I discovered that Helga Varden (Illinois) has felt forced to distance herself from views like mine in preface to new book for OUP, describing people like me who hold them as "thoughtless" and as "undermining the reality" and "criticizing" "people who are trans". Etc./
So I just want to be clear for any academics hate-reading me (please feel free to share in your facebook groups). I'm sure you righteous fools think the moral disapproval is flowing in one direction. But please be in no doubt: *I* disapprove of *you*. I disapprove of your/
weak-mindedness, your naivety, your foolish desire to be popular or look "cool" (you're an academic - you really don't), your cognitive dissonance, your narcissism, and above all your failure to do your fucking job, which is to scrutinise ideologies for their incoherence. This/
was your big shot - an actual chance for you to have made a difference, to stop ACTUAL harms, not just "illocutionary" ones - and not only did you shirk it, you positively tried to stop other people like me from tackling it, by outgrouping them. You are contemptible. And by "you"
I especially mean Sally Haslanger (MIT), Jennifer Saul (Waterloo), Quill Kukla (Georgetown), Justin Weinberg (South Carolina), Jonathan Ichikawa (UBC), Robin Dembroff (Yale), Mark Lance (Georgetown), Shannon Dea (Waterloo), Ray Briggs (Stanford). But there are lots of others. I/
may have completely scuppered my career chances but I will never regret talking about this, and nor will I cease to think you are hypocritical, weak-minded, and self-serving.
