I saw a post on instagram that asked if the sharing of police brutality was just trauma porn

I feel a little conflicted about it because this seems to be the only way white people will listen and believe the brutality that black people face. When it is so in their face it 1/
can’t be ignored. At least theoretically.

But the conflict comes from knowing that that window of opportunity for these videos to have the desired impact, is pretty small and limited. We desensitise to it or we find it so confronting, it is aversive. We literally look away 2/
So I don’t know. Im making a conscious effort to listen harder and speak out. And in the latter, thats why ive opened up this thread. I want to hear what people think and I want black people to feel safe to respond here. #BlackLivesMatter
