MAGAZINE TIME!
This time we're going for the UK magazine PC Review from May 1992.

The Gravis PC Mousestick! it's a mouse! it's a Joystick! weird.

Really it's just a joystick that connects to the (bus) mouse port, but can be used as a mouse or a joystick.
Reporting on the Michelangelo virus! (tl;dr: it didn't do much)
Kid Pix! A full page ad, too.
oh good, the CD-I is almost here. I'm sure it'll be a huge success.
Interesting article about book tie-ins for games.
Ahh, the Ad Lib Gold. I'm sure that'll be the next big sound card standard, and the company won't go bankrupt the same year.
Full page ad for Dune.
There's an article on upgrading your computer, and these prices are interesting. 320£ for a video card? That's like 666£ now, or 821$... for a card that isn't even 3D acceleration.
Weird that they even bother mentioning co-processors in a gaming magazine? they weren't really useful for games yet.
An article on Wizardy 7 has some screenshots, and it talks about how it uses "the 3D, first person viewpoint"
This magazine is from the month where Wolfenstein 3D game out, so their idea of how first person games looked was about to change...
A little mini-review of D-generation shows up in a bigger article of Heimdall. Neat!
Remember the good ol' days when you'd advertise a game with no screenshots?
A big review for Steel Empire/Cyber Empires! This is a classic mech strategy game.
Soundblasters! Back when they were expensive.
Interesting that they call it the SOUNDBLASTER v2, not the Soundblaster 2.0 like it's normally called.
A big review of Another World/Out of this World! Good to see they like it, or I'd have to burn this magazine.
full page ad for D-generation!
Some prices on computers.
It's an interesting era where you could be advertising 286s but also selling 486s. Those are very different PC generations!
A two page strategy guide for Monkey Island II!
A sale for a CD-ROM and it's a 300£ external monster.
And their Classic Game of the Month is... Lemmings!
Then they just list a ton of other classic games. Here's Action and Flight Sims.
and MORE FLIGHT SIMS and then racing games
Simulation (Other) and then War games
Fantasy RPG and Brain Teasers
More brain teasers, including KLAX! Because it is the 90s, and there is time for Klax.
And Sport.
More sport and Adventure! Including Leisure Suit Larry 5, Secret of Monkey Island 1 and 2, and Space Quest 5.
Kings Quest 5, and now we're onto Arcade Strategy.
Including Civilization!
A little bit more arcade strategy and we're done.
Sim City is definitely the stand-out title here.
An upgrade guide, this part is for Soundcards (or "Soundboards")
Interesting things are they they call AdLib the most popular soundcard, and that they even mention the insanely expensive LAPC-1 card!
LAPC-1 is basically a Roland MT32 shrunk down to a PC card, with a built in MPU-401
So there's a section on shareware, which annoyingly is mostly utility programs.
But they do talk about some games, like Monuments of Mars, which has "great graphics and sound effects".
uhh... really? I love the game but it aint pretty, not for 1992!
They also talk about Commander Keen II, by which they mean what is normally called Commander Keen 4, Goodby Galaxy. Weird...
Onto the letters-to-the-editor section, and there's James Westcott from Woking who is annoyed that computer games are getting so much bigger these days, and the only have 40mb of space on their hard drive for games!
