This thread about @temporalhiccup's approach to designing a #WretchedJam game is both interesting and important. The point about unreliable narration in particular is a complete blindspot in my design created by my own privilege. I'm really grateful to Jammi for highlighting this https://twitter.com/temporalhiccup/status/1266223797943689216
It's very clear to me that Wretched & Alone is beginning to take on a life of its own beyond the vision @iammattsanders and I had for it. That's a good thing, but it also comes with a level of responsibility on my part.
As soon as I can afford to pay people for their effort I'm going to consult with people better positioned to tackle these things than I am, and off the back of that I'll update the SRD and The Wretched to reflect.
I had a specific experience in mind for The Wretched, but if that experience is potentially harmful to players then it's something I need to address.

No game is more important than the safety of those playing it and I want to ensure that my games aren't actively harmful.
If The Wretched has caused you harm in any way, I want to unequivocally apologise to you. I'm sorry. It's my fault, and I'm going to take steps to ensure that I put the correct measures in place to prevent that happening to other players, both in this game and in my future work.
And this ties in to what I was saying the other day.

This thread is a prime example of why people like me shouldn't be in charge of safety tools. No matter our intentions, there are things we just won't consider.
I've now got an opportunity to be better, to listen and learn and to practice what I preach. I intend to take it.
