This thread about @temporalhiccup& #39;s approach to designing a #WretchedJam game is both interesting and important. The point about unreliable narration in particular is a complete blindspot in my design created by my own privilege. I& #39;m really grateful to Jammi for highlighting this https://twitter.com/temporalhiccup/status/1266223797943689216">https://twitter.com/temporalh...
It& #39;s very clear to me that Wretched & Alone is beginning to take on a life of its own beyond the vision @iammattsanders and I had for it. That& #39;s a good thing, but it also comes with a level of responsibility on my part.
As soon as I can afford to pay people for their effort I& #39;m going to consult with people better positioned to tackle these things than I am, and off the back of that I& #39;ll update the SRD and The Wretched to reflect.
I had a specific experience in mind for The Wretched, but if that experience is potentially harmful to players then it& #39;s something I need to address.

No game is more important than the safety of those playing it and I want to ensure that my games aren& #39;t actively harmful.
If The Wretched has caused you harm in any way, I want to unequivocally apologise to you. I& #39;m sorry. It& #39;s my fault, and I& #39;m going to take steps to ensure that I put the correct measures in place to prevent that happening to other players, both in this game and in my future work.
And this ties in to what I was saying the other day.

This thread is a prime example of why people like me shouldn& #39;t be in charge of safety tools. No matter our intentions, there are things we just won& #39;t consider.
I& #39;ve now got an opportunity to be better, to listen and learn and to practice what I preach. I intend to take it.
