i’m certified CPR and i feel like you all should know if you go to one of these protests and you see someone who is unconscious and you don’t feel a pulse or bleeding you legally can do CPR/ treat them if you are not certified as you are protected by the good sumaritan law.
if someone is both unconscious and bleeding please perform cpr and have someone else try and wrap their wound. CPR is always the first step you take if someone is unconscious and not breathing/unresponsive.
please bring gloves if you can because you should always treat bleeding wounds with gloves to prevent infection.
Before performing CPR always tap the person on the shoulder and give them your name and tell them what you’re about to do. after that tilt their had back and open their mouth to clear their airway and check their pulse. The chest compression to breathe ratio is 30:2
also when performing CPR always tilt the persons head back, pinch their nose and cover the persons mouth with yours and blow hard to get oxygen circulating in their body. When you’re doing chest compressions you should be pushing down 2-4 inches into the middle of their chest.
if you’re treating wounds and especially if it’s a wound that is bleeding heavily, apply pressure to it with a bandage or gauze (can be makeshift but please try and keep it as clean as you can so it lowers risk of infection) and keep applying pressure until it stops-
and if you need to keep applying more gauze do it and keep applying pressure until you’re sure the bleeding has stopped. The person may be in pain but their life matters.
i hope this thread helped/ will help if you experience something like this at a protest. i love you all and please stay safe and please don’t stop fighting. #BlackLivesMatter
also guys performing CPR if needed is the MOST important thing. i said it earlier but if the person is unconscious and unresponsive/not breathing you HAVE to perform CPR as quick as you can you have maybe 10-15 seconds to try and get the person to a safer area and-
tap the person on the shoulder, tell the person your name, open their air way and feel for a pulse before administering it. I know it’s stressful but please it’s the matter of life or death and you ARE protected by the good samaritan law.
if u guys have questions don’t hesitate to ask and i’ll answer
also i don’t know if people would actually try and do this but DO NOT REMOVE BULLETS FROM SOMEONE!!!! Those bullets are blocking a worse bleed out and if they are to be removed the person would bleed out even more.
i’m not trying to say that someone would i’m just trying to be cautious
also just incase anyone needed it here’s proof that i actually am certified. i blocked out my full name and my instructors signature for privacy reasons. I was trained in CPR for over a month in school and took additional classes to get certified.
if u guys want me to make another thread explaining good samaritan laws i can.
also a good way to practice cpr is by doing it on your pillow :)
also here’s a quick picture to show the placement of the hands on the chest. hope this thread helps. again if u need to ask questions just ask and i’ll answer.
