What does a school reopening look like?
Our biggest classroom fits 12. The staff room has no furniture in. We aren’t allowed to use the fridges. We can’t use the water fountains. Kids have to be escorted to/from classrooms. They will be escorted to the toilet....
They come in for their lesson and leave straight after - no social times. The desks are in 2m pods & they cannot move. No equipment to be used other than their own. Some classrooms won’t have a projector
That’s not education. That’s not teaching. Reopening schools is meant to ensure the disadvantaged don’t get left behind, but teaching in this way will only further advantage the more able. Anyone who thinks this is meaningful education is kidding themselves
Does my head in seeing people say, ‘but it’s not fair on the most disadvantaged’ - those who; excel practically, need help, who get bored quickly and the lower ability will not thrive.
Chalk & talk only works for higher ability. Therefore, we are only teaching to 10% of kids
HOW THE HELL IS THAT FAIR?
