I've been venting everywhere, so why not here too.
All these "haha mixed race ppl..." Whatever jokes are real funny until you have to argue with family members why you're so "political" and "opinionated". This shit gets so tiring, acting like mixed people dont experience 1/?
2/? The same racism that you do. I get that some mixed ppl are white passing or light skinned, but not all of us are. And even if they are, the family that knows them knows that they're black, and they'll always be the little nigglet of the family
3/? And I understand that colorism is such a huge issue in the community, but some of y'all are really out here acting like mixed people have never experienced racism before. And personally, I have very little connection to my black side of the family, so it's disheartening
4/? When the "community" basically rejects you and makes you feel as though you don't belong. For example, the Doja situation. I saw a few comments saying "this is why we don't except mixed people as one of our own" like... What the fuck is that?
5/5 I honestly have no idea where I wanted this thread to go, but I'm just so fucking tired of not belonging, and having to prove to one side of my family that our lives matter, only to turn around and have to prove to that community that I am one of them too. I give up.
