It's been three months since Keith and Shiro became mates, and Keith has more or less never been happier. Shiro is amazing--gentle and smart and strong, funny and kind, obedient and the right amount of protective. Sure, his cooking leaves a little to be desired--after tasting--

--his other food, he understands why the alpha makes so much fettucine alfredo on special occasions. And he makes terrible, stupid, punny jokes. But his cooking is (kind of) improving, and the jokes mean he'll make a great dad, which is good, considering Keith is pregnant--

--with a whole litter of his pups. Shiro spends every second he can fawning over Keith, nuzzling his stomach and scenting him and imagining what their pups are going to smell like. It's basically heaven, and Shiro agrees. He spends his days cooking for Keith, then doing chores,--

--then just...spending time together. Keith will do work from his home office or read aloud or watch TV, and Shiro will sit at his feet or with his head in his lap while Keith pets his hair.

Sometimes, they'll diverge from their routine. If they have a doctor's appointment, or if one of them has therapy (they both go, though not to the same provider) they shift their day around just a little. The same goes for when they have guests for dinner; Shiro starts cooking--

--pretty early, so everything is ready for their guests. He loves entertaining, though, and Keith loves showing him off.

Shiro's cleaning the kitchen when Keith, who's reading at the table, says: "Oh, by the way, Kolivan will be coming for dinner tomorrow."

"He says he has a surprise for us."

"A surprise?" Shiro asks, putting down his dishcloth. "What's the surprise?"

Keith looks at him across the kitchen. "It's a surprise, baby," he says, teasing but fond. "I don't know. But we'll find out soon."

"I don't think Kolivan's ever been over before," Shiro says.

"Oh," Keith grins, "you'll like him. He taught me everything I know about training alphas."

Shiro laughs. "I owe him one, then."

Keith laughs, too, and Shiro knows hin well enough to recognize something in his--

--voice that makes him shiver. "Don't worry. You'll have a chance to thank him. He'll make sure of it."

((sorry this is such a tiny tidbit! consider it an appetizer for tomorrow's main course, where Kolivan brings his special surprise for our favourite couple and Shiro gets to show him how appreciative he is of all the neat tricks he taught Keith))
