The recent events in America are about basic human rights and not politics, and nobody should stay quiet about this.

Some people however make a point out of this that being afraid to speak about any POLITICAL issues should be shamed bc it’s siding with the oppressor.

A thread
Let me start that if you think so you probably live in a country where you have free speech and yes you may be inconvenienced by speaking up in public or at work but you wouldn’t be falsely accused of a crime and sent to prison.
Some of us live in a country where if you talk aggressively about politics or become an activist you become a target.

Government will look closely. If someone decides they don’t like you enough they will find a crime to pin on you to show others that activism is BAD.
For example (I’m starting with house arrests: LGBT and feminist activist was charged for p*rnography because of the educational drawings of woman’s anatomy. Her name is Yulia Tsvenkova.
Why? Because she was vocal.

That’s an example that didn’t end up in actual prison time.
There are many other more sad examples. It’s happening here every day.

I don’t feel safe even writing this thread.

In some countries even being activist on social media is not safe. Not safe in “you become a target and they will ruin your and your family’s live” way.
