now I turn to twitter to spill my brains whilst eating toast. buckle up!!
I was downstairs, making said toast, when I thought of the complexity of myself. I wanted to turn to my friends and ask them either (a) on a scale of 1-10 how complex they thought they were, OR
(b) if they thought they were more complex than the average human being. I thought about how I would answer the question myself, and honestly believe I would said that I am more complex than the average human being. Now this is where the gears got turning:
If everyone believes they are complex beings, more complex than others, the “average person” fails to exist with the lack of complexity we seek to give them. We all become complex being (as we are — i suggest you take a neuroscience class to begin with). And so here I ask myself—
What is so desirable about being “more than the average human”. We agree that everyone is complex — why must we see it as a competition to be the best instead as an opportunity to see the beauty in it!!! Don’t get me wrong, I compare myself all of the time, but I’m hoping I’ll
Continue to have these moments of clarity where I see the beauty in individualizations and slow down (and one day stop) on the race to be better than others. thank you for reading :)
