Sappy birthday thread:

Today I hit 15, and honestly, if you told myself I’d get to 15 even a few years ago I’d tell you to go fuck yourself, I honestly didn’t think I’d get here

But... I am! And I couldn’t be happier about it

I’ve had some of the best friends and family to guide me, be it on here and in real life, and I couldn’t be more thankful

Wanted to take a look back and a look ahead but in the most sappy way possible

I’m very proud of how I’ve progressed and where I’ve come, I feel like I’ve grown as a person in only the last couple of years, and I look forward to becoming better!

I get to do what I love with some of the best I know at @OT_Heroics, and I’m very very thankful that I get to keep working in what’s basically my dream job at this point lmao

I don’t know where my journey in writing will take me but I can’t see myself anywhere else

I hope to be expanding my skills to more sports at some point! I once reached out for some feedback in the 6th grade, someone told me that I should try diversifying my writing...

And I absolutely SCOFFED at the notion lmao

After a couple of years of covering hockey and the Toronto maple leafs, I’m trying to go even deeper

I’m looking to expand my knowledge on a variety of leagues

I’ve been covering the Newfoundland Growlers and Toronto Marlies

I’m looking at other aspects of the NHL game, guys like @Kotkanemo and @pereira_report have given me the opportunity to speak to some of the greatest draft minds I’ve ever seen, and whether anyone in those chats knows it or not, they’ve helped a great deal

This upcoming season, I’m really excited, because I plan on covering Toronto’s new hockey team, the Toronto Six of the NWHL

Do I know a thing about NWHL? No! I’ve never covered women’s hockey before and I’m really excited

I’ve already written a couple of articles about them

And I’ve been learning, I’m learning as I go

I learned about the NWHL draft after the Six made a blockbuster trade with the 1st pick and I did my best to write an article about it

I’m looking forward to becoming familiar with the league this season honestly

Even just today, @michelle_jay3 was nice enough to tell me that NWHL contracts are one year (thank you lol)

So, bare with me, I really really want feedback, and I’m really looking forward to improving

Maybe last bit about my writing

I’m getting into other sports, the guys at @mma_oth have done a fantastic job at getting me into the sport of MMA and I even wrote an article on it!

I even wrote a basketball article this year (even though it’s sad)

Kind of want to do more

I’m feeling as if I’ve grown massively as a person

I feel as if I’ve completely flipped my views on the world for the better, I’m more aware, and overall I just feel like I’m less of a dickhead lmao

Do I have room to improve! Of course! I want to look back on this thread in five years and CRINGE

I want to be reminded how much I’ve grown, and honestly that’s my baseline marker, how much you cringe at your old self

I want to become a better person, a better friend, a better son, a better brother...

I want to become a better person to be around, and I want to make a positive impact on this world
