For everyone that has questioned, critiqued, disagreed with what has happened in the Twin Cities, I urge you to watch ‘Do The Right Thing.’ The 1989 Spike Lee film walks through exactly how violent riots develop.
While the film ends in a similar fashion as the protests here at home have, Lee does a phenomenal job at pulling together the different perspectives and solutions that marginalized groups have used.
We all have our own beliefs and perspectives, but take a moment to step outside of yourselves and attempt to grasp what these individuals are fighting for.
This thread does NOT condone the use of violence and harmful protests to achieve an agenda. Rather, this is a call for people to understand the anger behind these actions.
