A young coworker of mine asked me an interesting question today... “as a Puerto Rican and Dominican in America, do u consider yourself black?”
My answer was a resounding “hell no. Despite being a minority I’d be a fool to think my ppl have been treated as horribly as black ppl”

Sure, as a minority I’ve been treated like shit, I’ve been profiled, been arrested for bullshit...I’ve never feared for my life though...I don’t leave my home and always have to worry I may not come home...
I cringe when I see all POC act we’re dealing with the same things when that is clearly NOT the case...none of us are treated fairly but that for black ppl in America it is clearly much worse...
“Oh but they look at y’all the same”...no they don’t...you’re blind if u think that...”look at what they’re doing to ppl at the border” ok...yes that is horrible and wrong but it is NOT the same...
It is terrible what they’re doing to immigrants and their families...it is even more disgusting what they’re doing to CITIZENS every single fucking day...ppl who live here, their entire history is here...yet are treated worse than trash...
How are shocked at anything this nation does to ppl from other countries when we don’t have the decency to treat our own ppl like actual humans???
I’m sure there are stories out there about Hispanic ppl being killed by cops...yeah sure but EVERY FUCKING DAY there’s a new story about cops killing black ppl...our struggles are NOT THE SAME...don’t be ignorant and think we have it as bad...
My ppl have enjoyed a certain privilege that many of us will refuse to acknowledge...we have been welcomed in large part into black culture yet do not nor will ever face the same injustice...we have what white folks want so badly...to be a nigga until it’s convenient
