hi all I just want us speak on my lack of engagement these last few days in the wake of the horrifying murder of #GeorgeFloyd. The bigotry and violence black folks suffer at the hands of those who “swear to serve and protect” is unfathomable to most white folks and
esp now in isolation, radio silence by privileged people like me can not only be interpreted as complicity in the injustice, but directly hurts those vulnerable and emboldens the monsters who own and operate the infrastructure that destroys people of color in this country.
I want to say sorry to those I’ve let down by not speaking up, esp to my black fans who feel betrayed. I am generally less outspoken these days and I hesitated in speaking up in selfish fear of sounding inauthentic, merely virtue-signaling for "woke" digital applause
Whether it’s through frustration, cynicism, apathy or a self-conscious attempt to avoid hollow “thoughts & prayers” triviality, I realize that not speaking up promptly and sincerely only perpetuates harm when a few simple words could have helped. There is more to address
