I’m having a tough time articulating that I’m answering the call to action from #antiracist campaigns for white people to do more than be against racism. It’s time to put my energy into fighting #racism. Actions speak louder than words.
I happen to be battling my brain right now. As soon as #COVID19 hit, it took a tiny toll on my mental state. It’s okay, I’m okay, it’s a hinderance, but I keep myself in check and get things that need to be done, done. I’m still working full time too.
I’ve been struggling with the shame of seeing #antiracist groups demand action, while also in the throws of a depressive episode. I purchased this book, @thenewjimcrow, years ago.
It moved with me from NJ to NYC, has been on vacation with me, commuted with me even...I have a horrendous attention span and I just have not finished it. That ends today. Or in a few days...however long it takes me to finish it.
I know -reading- is hardly the action I should be taking right now, but it’s a start. Is this thread self-serving? Of course! But I just needed some way of putting it out there into the void that I’m not doing much, but I’m doing something, which is better than nothing.
