why kaya, who you may know as “black patsy”, is the best dance mom: a thread
kaya revealed that she never wanted to be called “black patsy” and that was a nickname that the producers had pushed onto her. so we will be referring to her as kaya, her actual name, in this thread.
if you didn’t know, kaya is a lesbian and has constantly fought for lgbtq+ rights. her daughter has shared her support for the community on instagram as well.
the video is here:
when cathy’s group routine in season 7, episode 12 was about building a wall (reminder that this was around the time trump took office), kaya had expressed her disappointment with the dance.
the whole concept of the dance was completely offensive and inappropriate. however, the other mothers did nothing about it. kaya told them that they should stop brownosing cathy and see the situation for what it is.
here is the entire clip, the quality is not the best but:
kaya is the one of the only ones on the show who has rallied for equal rights for everyone. but not only that, she has had to put up with racially motivated comments from jill, the other mothers, and some fans.
here is a clip from kaya’s youtube video where she talks about some of the drama in season 7. she makes so many valid points here
some fans have also recently spoken with kaya. she has revealed that her and nicaya were never in it for the fame or the money, but because of the dancing. nicaya is an amazing dancer who has won many scholarships for dance. she is also known by many in the industry.
you are probably wondering why we are making this thread even though dance moms has ended. well, kaya and nicaya still get hate comments from dance moms fans who still believe what they see on television. it’s time that people know the truth.
anyway stan kaya and nicaya for clear skin! they are so educated and use the platform they have for important causes. it’s a shame that this side of them wasn’t broadcasted on television because if so, i think they would have been loved by all.
end of thread <3
