Just wanna clear up before you read this, I'm just some random British Indian kid who wants to voice out his opinion about what's going on in America rn. All views are mine. #BlackLivesMatter
Seeing all videos recently on my timeline is truly heartbreaking but that's not the focus of this thread, I'm gonna be addressing the response that some people have had and why they need to shut up.
As a POC I know for a fact that that there is discrimination against black people in all Asian communities all to varying extents. And I also know that as a POC we are also faced with racist remarks hence we should not remain silent in this time.
But you know what we should not do? Make it a f**king competition to see who suffers the most? Stop wasting your stupid energy arguing amongst yourselves and focus on the real issue at hand.
And sure we may not be of the same background or the same ethnicity but you know what you are before all those things? you are HUMAN. You're someone's daughter/son, father/mother etc. Forgetting that you're human before anything is the making of our own downfall.
I've seen vids of police brutality for so many years on twitter but has it affected me personally in any way? No. But should I remain silent? NO, being silent especially in a time like this means that they win. If we don't come together now, all this sh*t will just repeat again.
Of course all lives matter but it we don't support #BlackLivesMatter then the former statement is pointless. Now is the time to voice out, educate yourselves, engage in this conversation, look out for one another.
