Not my post but I agree with it:

“I write this as a veteran Police Officer and I am saddened and disgusted. Some of the comments from so-called law enforcement officers is simply mind boggling. It’s apparent some will defend cops no matter what. Yes, we are entitled to due“
process. Yes we are innocent until proven guilty. However, we also are responsible for policing our own, stepping in to stop wrong doing and holding ourselves to a higher standard. I am usually the first one to say “wait until a full investigation is completed” before offering an
opinion. Sometimes we just need to speak up when something looks or feels wrong, even when it’s one of our own. It’s painful and it sucks but it’s real. THIS is where we earn the public trust, by being real. Defending the line, at all costs, isn’t working out for us. Sometimes we
make mistakes. Sometimes it’s a lack of training. Sometimes we’re just plain wrong. Imagine how different things would be if just one officer said these words: “Get off his neck, we got this!”

I’ve worked as a law enforcement officer long enough to know there are people who
shouldn’t be wearing the badge and many who have tarnished it. Right now, the badge is tarnished and it saddens me greatly. I’ve unfortunately watched as life left many people during my career and this was not easy to see. These experiences will haunt me forever. George Floyd
didn’t deserve to die and this is not the image I want associated with my chosen profession.

If you’re a cop who wants to justify this or post threatening comments or messages, check yourself, unfollow this page and consider a new career.

For the outraged citizens who follow
this page, most of us are just as outraged and it certainly does not reflect law enforcement as a whole.

We have to be better than this”
