I love book covers. I love conferences. Today I finally thought to combine these 2 loves. I present to y'all my favorite book covers of #LJDoD 2020! Each booth capped at 3 covers or else this would have been the all @fantagraphics @workmanupdate @soho_press @WWNortonLibrary
EVERYTHING HERE IS UNDER CONTROL by @adremily from @BlackstoneAudio. Cover design by @AlenkaDesign Big ups to the marketing team at @BlackstoneAudio for knowing the cover designer's name. For all the other covers, if you know the illustrator and designer's names, please share!
@DancingAfterTEN by Vivian Chong with Georgia Webber from @fantagraphics (please let me know who designed this beautiful cover! I think this might just be my favorite of the whole day)
GHOST WRITER by @raycopulidor from @fantagraphics
COWBOY by Rikke Villadsen from @fantagraphics Love the text design on this in particular
CROOKED HALLELUJAH by @kellijoford from @groveatlantic I love this cover so much I broke out my usual back door trick of finding the copyright page on Google Books to find the designer's name but alas no preview for that page. Let me know, good people! #LJDoD
ONCE AND FUTURE WITCHES by @AlixEHarrow from @HachetteLib Cover design by Lisa Marie Pompilio ( @VonBrooklyn). Shoutout to @BookRiot for crediting the designer in the cover reveal. #LJDoD
DAUGHTERS OF THE WILD by @natalkaburian from @parkrowbooks @HQforLibraries The saturated blue of this cover! Also while looking for the cover designer's name I found at the author owns two bars and has a cocktail cookbook so my interest in this book has only increased
DEAR CHILD by Romy Hausmann from @flatironbooks @MacmillanLib I particularly love this cover because the designer colorfully riffs off other international covers of this book while making their own cover stand out with letter design, color & verve #LJDoD

Librarians have been on Team @sam_aye_ahm from the beginning so it is no surprise that MAD, BAD & DANGEROUS TO KNOW from @soho_press made it on my top cover list for #LJDoD. Cover design: David Lanaspa (I loved his design for ASK AGAIN, YES too)Thanks @TeenVogue for design credit
A GIRL IS A BODY OF WATER, the latest from KINTU author Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi from @Tin_House @WWNortonLibrary Yet another great cover design from Norton #ljdod
RUTHIE FEAR by @maximloskutoff from @WWNortonLibrary Seriously, Golda, please pass along every and all congratulations to your book design team because this is yet another striking cover that stands out
HIS ONLY WIFE by @PeaceMedie from @AlgonquinBooks @workmanupdate The first cover I fell in love with today at #LJDoD, and the book that launched this thread. Annie, do you know the cover illustrator or designer on this cover?
IMPERSONATION by @HeidiPitlor from @workmanupdate
One last favorite cover from this year's #LJDoD: IWÍGARA: AMERICAN INDIAN ETHNOBOTANICAL TRADITIONS AND SCIENCE by Enrique Salmón from @workmanupdate This looks amazing, both in cover and content. Currently scheduled to come out 8/4/2020
5 hours later, my love letter to the book covers of #LJDoD is done. If you somehow miraculously made it to the end of this thread, thank you. If you work for a publisher, I will bake you cookies & engrave a plaque in your name if you make it easier to discover designers' names.
Don't think I won't. I absolutely will. @MarianLiberryan can vouch for me. Also, shoutout to the real hero of this year's #ljdod covers @_rachelwilley the designer of the widely- hmm how do I put this delicately- stolen cover of Brit Bennett's THE MOTHERS.
