hi fellow Asian-Americans, your “we need to address anti-blackness in our community” tweets are nice but if you’re not actively calling out friends & family DIRECTLY, about their anti blackness, using the n-word, colorism, etc. then your performative tweets are just that—tweets
these conversation are uncomfortable to have because they’re people you love and know. but there is no place for anti-blackness in our community anymore. this shit has got to go and it starts with YOU
your “call outs” don’t even need to be accusatory. you can simply ask a question to open room for honest communication. next time your parents or cousins or uncles say something anti-black, question it. ask /why/ they feel or think that way. open a conversation.
and, more importantly, talk to your younger siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins. WE can break the cycle. OUR generation has the power to do that. we MUST dismantle anti-blackness in our community
