Love this tweet from @bryanl

I've recently - as in: last 6 months - been learning to code. Here are a few things I've found challenging as someone who is (possibly?) "strategically technical"... https://twitter.com/bryanl/status/1266026345840234498
It's easy to feel, when you are joining the coding game late in your career, that you don't have a chance to catch up with everyone around you.

A friend recently gave me some great advice...
"Think about all your life experience. Think about what that brings to how you do stuff. How you think about the problem in front of you. Code is just another avenue of expression."
As a musician, I know only too well - in that domain - that expression often comes from hours of experimentation. But to transfer that model of learning, to learning to code, has been a very difficult mental shift to make.
The tl;dr, (I think), is to find joy in noodling. To have destinations, but to be patient in how you reach them. To love patterns, not designs. To take a trip of exploration with no end in mind.
