Still mulling over the idea that voting for expansion is "doing it for" suburban constituents. Your constituents already live in Ottawa. They already found a place to live in your ward. You are voting "for" imaginary residents of Ottawa and against those who already live there.
I mean in some cases this may be for the kids in your ward. Fine! They will also need a place to live! but this vote basically told them that they are generally not welcome in their own current neighbourhood and probably will have to live on the far borders.
What about the aging population in your ward? What about their future? I suspect that fewer are going to want to live in assisted care homes in the near future, so our aging population is going to want condos when they downsize. So you're telling them them have to live elsewhere?
And overall, what is expanding the city going to get your residents? Do they get money for their neighbourhoods for it? No. Their development is already done. Instead they get to pay more property tax, have more people driving on the roads and on transit.

Who is this really for?
Is this really to avoid having to fight with NIMBYs in your ward by pushing the problems elsewhere and into the future? Sounds like it.

Sure, Ottawa "can" build 15-minute communities but every single step in its recent decades has told us it won't, so good luck with that.
