A lot of people are finishing Avatar The Last Airbender so if you need another show to fill the void let me recommend a few things to you (THREAD)
- Legend of Korra
- Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
- Voltron: Legendary Defender
- Dragon Prince
- Steven Universe
- Young Justice
Legend of Korra:
You’ve probably heard abonar the sequel series to Avatar that takes place a generation later. The responses are kind to mixed, but I really recommend it.

Korra takes more risks than its predecessor, it’s darker and asks interesting questions about the Avatar
universe. It has some incredible villains (Seasons 1 and 3 particularly), and some GORGEOUS animation that pairs nicely with some fluid and gripping fight scenes.

It has higher highs and lower lows than TLA, but I think it’s well worth the journey.

This is the kind of show
that I can talk a lot about. It can be messy sometimes, but it’s beautiful in its own way, and it carves out its own identity as a different kind of story.

Seeing Korra come into her own is empowering and compelling.

And it has Bolin and Lin Bei Fong and they’re the best :)
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood:

Some people say that TLA is a gateway drug into Anime. If that’s true than THIS is the anime to start with.

This show is one of the few to capture the same sense of excitement I felt when watching Avatar for the first time. It’s storytelling is
gripping with great worldbuilding and some killer twists along the way.

There’s a cast of loveable characters that all have important roles to play (not to mention two of my favorite female characters in...anything)

It’s TV-14 so it can be quite dark sometimes and it doesn’t
hold back. But there’s a warmth to the relationships that the characters build with each other that keeps things from feeling bleak.

I HIGHLY recommend this show even if you don’t care for anime. It’s as consistently good as Avatar and that’s the biggest praise I can give.
Voltron Legendary Defender:

This was a project done by the Korra team for Netflix, and it’s got some good stuff to offer.

There’s a nice team dynamic with fun characters and a similar art style to Avatar. They do a great job at balancing the personalities with fun dialogue.
Seasons 1 - 4 are really awesome and had moments that got me on my chair and cheering.

Sadly, it kind of loses its way by the end, so I can’t FULLY recommend it to everyone, but I think you can find something to love in those first few seasons.
The Dragon Prince:

Another Netflix show from some ex-Avatar employees. This one skews more towards traditional fantasy.
I’ve only seen the first two seasons but it has a devoted following that can be more persuasive than me lol

And the VA for Sokka voices the main character :)
Steven Universe:

This Cartoon Network show is on Hulu and is pretty different than the other entires here.

I feel like it’s a good post-avatar watch becuase it follows that “young innocent boy with a big destiny coming into his own” storyline that Aang did.

There are some
wonderful characters here, and they all contribute so much to the tone of the show.

Lots of deep themes and strong messages here. It’s especially neat that Steven is able to find nonviolent ways to solve a lot of his problems.

And the SONGS have been stuck in my head since 2015
Young Justice:

This is a very fun watch especially if you like superheroes. It’s on the DC streaming service right now and it scratches that “teenage friends who work together to save the world” itch left behind by Avatar.

It’s very fun to see the DC sidekicks form their own
team and start unraveling some mysteries and facing threats of their own.

There’s 3 seasons out now and they each have unique storylines they follow. If that’s your thing I’d give it a watch :)
Or you could find the Avatar comic books and read those! They follow the Gaang after the finale and tie up some loose threads they left behind (like Zuko’s mom!)

There’s a lot of good stuff out there, and I hope this was helpful!
