Ryan is an amazing educator, a great leader, but most importantly, one of the best persons I have ever met in my life. He is a champion for those who often times get marginalized, left behind and/or forgotten. He is who we all want on our side fighting for and fighting with us.
Right now, civil unrest is happening in the neighborhoods of his students. It is happening in the neighborhoods of my students. It is happening in the neighborhoods of OUR students.
There is a far greater set of underlying circumstances that have continued to build to this tipping point, not just in our communities throughout the Twin Cities, but throughout our country. They need to be addressed. Today. Tomorrow. The next Day. EVERY DAY.
This week's events have served as yet another wake up call for those who have been in power, those who have had power and agency taken from them, those who seek to maintain their power and control over others and those who are hoping to one day been afforded agency & power.
