We should not forget what started all of this Conservative outrage against Twitter in the first place:
Nazis.
Yes, real, actual Nazis. Only they preferred to call themselves Altright.

Journey along with me to what Twitter used to be like
Not many years ago, Twitter was a Wild West hellscape filled with cat memes and terrible hashtag puns. But then, with the rise of Donald Trump came the Nazis.
Twitter was filled with outright White Nationalists like David Duke, Richard Spencer, Ricky Vaughn and Tila Tequila.

There were also the Nazi-Curious, folks like Laura Loomer, Milo, Baked Alaska, Gavin McGinnes, Casandra Fairbanks and many others.
These accounts had so many followers that they could get racist hashtags trending with ease and send a virtual army against anyone they hated

The most famous example of this is when comedian Leslie Jones publicly quit twitter after Milo sent his hordes after her with death threats and racist photos of apes by the thousands.
This was a wake up call for Twitter and as a result came the Purge

Twitter, correctly, began eliminating the twitter accounts of some of its most odious white nationalists. Folks like Milo and Ricky Vaughn went away, almost over night.
But then the accounts of other Nazi-Curious folks like Laura Loomer went away as well.

Because these Nazi Curious grifters needed the attention Twitter brought them to make money, they were in an outrage. Laura Loomer famously handcuffed herself to Twitters NYC building in protest.
But, alas it didn't work, so now in a bid for relevance she is running for Congress

Twitter actually became a much better place. It was possible to send out tweets without immediately being called a cuck. Life was good...
...until these Nazis started complaining and their anger started getting washed through Conservative thought machine.

Laura Loomer and others would go to Gavin McGinness, who would tell Alex Jones who would tell Ann Coulter who told Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity who told Trump who finally told Hugh Hewitt.
And just like that, suddenly the GOP was concerned about Twitter censorship.
And just like that, suddenly the GOP was concerned about Twitter censorship.
When upstanding citizens like Roger Stone and David Clarke had their accounts suspended (temporarily) for blatantly violating the terms of service, GOP anger at twitter started getting frothy.
And finally, this week, was the final straw...
And finally, this week, was the final straw...
Twitter had the audacity to put an asterisk on one of the President's tweets because it was demonstrably untrue. And so, the movement that began with the Nazis had reached it's pinnacle and found its champion
Now, through executive order, Trump is threatening any social media company that engages in political view point moderation.
But Trump is not the real beneficiary here, nor is he the real force behind the movement.
But Trump is not the real beneficiary here, nor is he the real force behind the movement.
Nope, the real force behind this movement man, though cloaked under the auspices of respectability by people like Hugh Hewitt, has always been the Nazis.
They need their accounts back to make money and be relevant again. Good thing Trump is so obliging.
