Twin cities resident here, things are bad. Most of my work is in downtown Minneapolis and some of our clients are going into complete lockdown, some even going as far as to literally board up their windows in the commercial district. Violence is breaking out between protesters 1/
and police. It seems not outside the realm of possibility that violence will become fatal if the state and local governments continue protecting the officer who killed George Floyd. There was a literal gang of cops protecting Chauvin& #39;s home last night in Oakdale, near a 2/
neighborhood of some family of mine. It seems quite obvious to me that everyone is going to double down on their positions and refuse to listen to each other. I called it when the pandemic started that the culture war would get much worse, but I did not anticipate it happening 3/
In the way that it did, and certainly didn& #39;t see it happening in my area. Those who were already struggling before are becoming more desperate, which I can only guess is what lead to George Floyd committing fraud. Now that there has been another viral video of a police killing 4/
This has been the relief valve popping on tensions started generations ago, but only further exacerbated by a recent pandemic. Am I near the heart of a budding civil war? I certainly hope not...but I called it years ago that the culture war could become a hot war very easily end/
