So I wasn’t going to say anything but I tweet this in hopes of helping somebody with the message. As a professor (yes I’m a real Dr., but not that kind) who writes about equity, justice, and activism there is no place white supremacy won’t show up. #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter

First I have been doing activism, equity, and justice work for over a decade. You can find more about me/or on my main page @TerahJay. When I say this work I mean commit ur work, writing, research, teaching, and publishing. #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter

First things first, #BlackLivesMatter , today, tomorrow, and everyday after that. This should not be a radical notion, and yet here we are. Black people have a contention relationship with existing in this country and the world broadly, and it rooted in anti-Blackness. #ACNH

It may seem that the activism as a result of police and state violence is new, it’s not. But it’s way more visible given the accessibility of social media & the advances of tech. It *seems* all of the sudden Black folx are dying daily but it’s not new. #BlackLivesMatter   #ACNH

When the latest headline fades away, many Black ppl are still experiencing violence physical, psychological, economical, and spiritual. That’s why it’s important beyond this moment that you think about your part, and how to be engaged if it matters to you. #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter

The #ACNH community is full of white folks (many young) who do not know they are white, said differently, they do not understand what whiteness is/means and the socio-political advantages and power that they get to enjoy in the world. #BlackLivesMatter

If that’s you, you might be confused or unclear on what you should do, or why this is all important. And frankly, that’s your issue to work out, beloved. People are dying. #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter

But let me point out, your being confused, or unclear, or annoyed is evidence of your white privilege. Your white guilt, or bad feelings are useless and also informed by your privilege but don’t fret! There are plenty of things you can do! #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter

1. Be quiet, listen to Black folx, and amplify their voices, today and everyday. Does that mean your voice is unimportant? Of course not! It just means it’s less important right now than the ppl experiencing violence! #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter

2. Got questions or are confused? Talk to other white people. If you aren’t confused, it’s your job to talk to the white people that are. We don’t need allies we need accomplices, to do their part. It’s not a badge that you earn, it’s a DAILY commitment. #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter

3. You should go read and watch videos to learn about the movement, the people that make it up, and what they do (psst. There’s a whole website https://blacklivesmatter.com ) and that’s just ONE resource, there are many! #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter

4. If you think you’re exhausted hearing about racism and white supremacy on AC Twitter, imagine how tired we are of *living* it. Everyday. And think, most Black people don’t have the game as an escape. There is no escape. Reflect on what that means. #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter

5. Racism is on AC because ppl are there. There is *no* place white supremacy won’t show up. There is no perfect world, not even in our beloved game, or the community. So you should disrupt it and call it out when you see it. #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter

6. You don’t get a cookie for doing the right thing either. You do it bc it’s the right thing to do. And if you mess up (because we all do/will) it doesn’t make you a bad person, but it does make you human. So apologize, move on and do better next time. #ACNH #BlackLivesMatter
