I wanna talk about George Floyd.
Did you know he was called the Gentle Giant, because he was 6'6" and his immense kindness? His sister said "to know George was to know love" and I firmly believe that.
Did you know he was from Houston and that he has a cousin that plays or played+
for the Spurs?
Did you know that he was a truck driver when he moved to Minneapolis? he moved there to make a better life. This particularly put knots in my stomach.
Did you know he was a security guard and that he touched everyone's life that he came into contact with at Conga?+
Did you know he was someones baby, brother, nephew, and friend?
Did you know he didn't resist?
Did you know that he was yanked out of his car?
I bet you didn't. I bet not many people do.
times are scary, tensions are high, people are cruel. Our sense of duty to our fellow humans+
is dwindling. We've become so desensitized that instead of helping someone who is in need, we film it and put it online.
See, i dont care if he was resisting or had used counterfit money, which is quite obvious he did neither. that man deserves to be alive. +
the job of our law enforcement is to protect and serve. The minneapolis officers did neither. They ignored a man who was in distress and now a mother has to bury her boy.
George Floyd deserves to be alive
Eric Gardner deserves to be alive
Philando Castille deserves to be alive +
and his daughter deserves to have her father.
Every black human wrongfully murdered because of the color of their skin deserves to be alive.
To all of the men and women of color, I love you all. To all the black women who love a black man, whether it be son, husband or brother,+
I ache for your fear of them stepping out of their doors. To all the black men who love a black women, I ache for you trying to keep strong and sure for your loved one, when you are just as scared. To my LGBTQ black couples, interracial, lesbian, gay, trans, +
i ache for you, not only because you're in fear of death not just because of your color, but also for whom you choose to love.
It hurts me that you have to be afraid of loving and living. it hurts me that whites dont have to fear living as much as blacks. it hurts me that+
racism is still a thing.
I will fight for you.
i will stand with you.
I will not let your voice be silenced.
