Someone asked me how they can help the black community. I’m not 100% sure, but I explained how my life may be different than theirs, how it’s not just about the stories we see on the news. How I have to make conscious decisions to make a non-black person feel safe around me..

I want to here your stories, maybe allow for a space where we can explain the things we have to do that they may not. I’ll start —

When I go for my morning jogs, I make the conscious decision to cross the road when I see a white woman jogging towards me. One time I failed to do this and I witnessed her turn around and run a bit faster down a street to avoid me.
