I am going to rant about something that truly frustrates me, it must be worse for lesbians. The LGBTQIA+ treats the "L" like it is silent. There are things that we NEVER discuss in the LGBT community because it goes against a narrative and it's treated as irrelevant.
When we discuss certain things we completely ignore womens sex based rights or act like they are irrelevant.
It is easier to call a lesbian a TERF than it is to acknowledge all of her oppression. Oblivious is a male privilege. Lesbians don't have that luxury.
Within our communities "safe places" are not safe places for all of us.
1) Lesbians have been verbally assaulted in gay bars.
2) Males have flashed their genitals in the womens rooms in gay bars.
3) Males have masturbated in the gay bars mens women trapping lesbians in stalls
Gay Bras aren't safe places for lesbians.
4) Males have grabbed lesbians breasts.
5) Lesbians have been violently attacked in gay bars.
6) Lesbians have had date rape drugs put in their drinks.
7) Lesbians have been raped in gay bar restrooms.
These things happen.
These things have not been discussed in LGBT media since the early 2000s because we have been guilty of ignoring lesbians. It has become worse over the years and in 2020, this generation of show me the receipts, will acknowledge the receipts never see the light of day.
Our LGBTQIA+organizations do not serve lesbians, they do not fight for lesbians. Our LGBTQIA+ does not report any of the things that routinely happens to lesbians. Why? because it gets in the way of a narrative that says women do not need or require female spaces.
I can't apologize if this hurts anyones feelings. The reality is the trans umbrella includes males who are NOT transsexuals, males who are not transitioning, and males who give lesbians death threats, rape threats, and threats of violence. It is too serious to ignore.
