If anyone who isn’t black is uncomfortable about their race being treated the exact same way the black race are treated in America; then that’s more than enough to clarify that they know and understand how wrong this whole thing is.

It’s not lack of awareness, it’s ignorance.
I’ve asked myself, what makes me a Black British citizen uniquely different from an African-American citizen other than the countries we were born in and our differentiation in accents? If we stand next to each other and don’t speak we’re exactly the same right?
A black girl (from The UK) tweeted yesterday that she was driving late one evening in an affluent American neighbourhood when she was pulled over by a cop who shouted at her to get out of the car. She said “yes officer” in a distinct British accent..(cont’d)
...and immediately the officer said “are you from The UK?” She says yes, shows him some ID and he says: “drive slower and have a good evening” I don’t need to tell you what could have happened if she was an American. A red passport and an accent essentially saved her life
This is a huge issue and whilst discussing it is a necessary prerequisite for change. Discussions without actions is a waste of speech. This will die down and everyone continues to live life till the next black person dies (which will 100% happen)
People’s lives are more significant than just becoming another trending hashtag on social media. We need to get to work on this - because you’re British or from another nation shouldn’t make it less important. It shouldn’t have to hit someone you love before you respond
There are a number of groups I’m aware of that are actively fighting this injustice but for their voice to be heard, they need support. There is huge strength in effective numbers. I’ll collate some I know and put them below this thread.
Prayer is good but prayer with directed and focused action is something else entirely. Let’s not just make this another prayer point and then forget about it. We have the power to reduce this until it stops.
I may not be employable to certain companies who may see my stance but that’s okay, I’ve accepted that this is worth not working or representing certain companies if it means I stand for the truth. These deaths mean nothing if no action is taken.
