I commit to stop and be witness any time I observe a person of color being approached by police. Will you commit to do the same?
To be witness is the foremost thing. Whether you stand at a distance observing without intervening or recording but making your presence felt, or you record on a device or are compelled to physically intervene, is up to you and the circumstance. At least, be a witness, an ally.
Not only do we hope presence and attention, will positively affect the outcome with regards to the police officer’s actions but perhaps your presence and attention will help the victim as well. Perhaps we say to a victim who is unaware of our presence, “I am here. I see you.”
Mr. Floyd was pronounced dead at 9:25 p.m. What can we do tomorrow night at 9:25 to show our support?
I have an idea. Everyone share the same song at 9:25 pm EST. Taking song suggestions: @fenrir_71 @ifractionaleft @FamousBL3 @Kris_Sacrebleu @dcdeejay @PiperDewn @FKujack
