I got banned from a very popular Facebook birding group for demanding that we acknowledge and discuss the experiences of non-white birders.

So I made a new, less racist group. If you’re a bird nerd on Facebook check out West Coast Birders.

The group that banned me is Pacific Northwest Birders. I have no interest in protecting or concealing their behavior.

I don’t have the bandwidth to say this elegantly so forgive the clunky thing I’m about to say, but it needs saying. I appreciate the support but please don’t make this about lauding me. I’m the last person who needs extra support right know.

Join West Coast Birders but then go follow folks like @JasonWardNY @JeffreyMWard @hood_naturalist and @MclainWildlife who are the real leaders of making the birding community a less shitty place.
