it’s maddening that a palestinian from al khalil of all places was the one who called the cops on george floyd. we know these systems aren’t for us in palestine! we KNOW that! why would they be for us—for anyone other than the white capitalist state—here in US?

al khalil arguably suffers more from policing and occupation than any other city in the west bank. we have to draw the parallels and understand that police systems across the globe are connected, and they DO NOT SERVE US. ffs, the IDF literally trains american cops!

this shit is so serious. literally life or death. some arabs have a weird reverence for cops—i don’t understand it, but those of us in proximity to it have to work to help others unlearn it. trying to clamor for whiteness or defer to white systems will not save us.

there is so much anti-blackness among non-black arabs. even now, i see arabs try to rationalize the decision to call the cops over $20. fuck that. we should be making sure our communities know better than to ever seek anything from the police.
