As the Johnson govt contemplates a further reopening of the U.K., question is whether his record of getting every single big call wrong is extended into this next stage.
The most obvious impending mistake is a failure of insist on the use of masks in reopened retail outlets and on public transport. Pretty much every country/US state that has successfully opened has insisted on this.
Struggling to understand the U.K’s reticence on this point. Perhaps we are clinging onto some outdated scientific advice that masks make no difference.
I think it should be clear that the U.K. strategy of failing to learn lessons from other countries during the COVID19 crisis has led to one epic policy fail after another. Right about now is the time to strictly follow examples of those countries that have coped best.
And in general those countries with the best COVID19 outcomes are those with the highest rate of mask usage. This needs to be part of the reopening plan.
