I wanted to speak on the #BlackLivesMatter
https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt=""> movement and why I& #39;ve been so quiet surrounding it in light of recent events
First and foremost, I tend to stick to liking and reblogging anyway to as not to overstep and overshadow the voices I am trying to advocate for
Secondly- I have been involved with and been a party to the BLM movement pretty much since I joined the internet. At the start I was so loud and passionate and ANGRY and I felt and saw every injustice and they fed the fire in my stomach
As I& #39;ve gotten older, nearly 10 years on from learning about BLM, I& #39;ve started to become more and more disheartened. I see death after death and another black life lost and the world& #39;s blindness to it, the complete lack of change
And it feels so hopeless. I have seen atrocities done to PoC beyond belief, each new case I find myself saying "Surely this will be enough. Surely this will be the tipping point. People will start to realise" but it never is. Things just escalate further
Those in power continue to abuse PoC, each death falling on deaf ears confirming what they know- that they can get away with this. That it won& #39;t touch them. Meanwhile PoC live their lives terrified that they might be the next life turned into a hashtag
And heres the thing, I am white. I feel these deaths in the very depths of my heart, but I feel sympathy, not empathy. The toll these deaths have on those who identify with the victims is astronomical. I have seen so many admit they are exhausted, and I dont blame them
I cant imagine what this must be like to live with in the way PoC do, and I am horrified by the complete lack of humanity and understanding people have in dealing with the #BlackLivesMatter

There isnt really a point to this thread. I guess just, try to exercise more empathy and humanity in times like these. Research the movement, advocate as best you can, use any privilege you have to amplify these voices enough that they can no longer be silenced
