here's a thread of what you should know about police brutality as well as the history of where police originates from and how it links back to slavery. they don't teach me this in high school, and they don't teach anyone this in schools because america is racist. tw // slavery
police originates from gathering slaves and ending riots and protests. they would also use these police as a way to "protect" white ppl from minorities. back then they were refered as 'slave patrols' bc their jobs would be to maintain and keep slaves in order and catch runaways.
white volunteers would slave patrol in order to feel impowered and superior. these slave patrols would forcefully enter people's homes if they even were suspected that someone had escaped.
no one talks about how police were always meant to control. they aren't here to protect you and serve you. if you think white privilege isn't real and that police are somehow heroes because you think ur dad is a good guy, he is not a good guy and neither is anyone else.
when people say acab they are referring to a system that was originally created to control not for safety but for power. when people say acab we are talking about how police, every single one of them are taking part of this inherently racist system.
you cannot cherry pick what history you want to remember and what you forget. history has always been prominent in the present and history when it comes to shit like this isn't a one time thing that stops, it's on going. history doesn't always mean the past and that's it.
you can't solve an issue if you don't know where it comes from.
