This isn't about Black cops, white cops, "good cops," or "bad cops." This is about the fundamental role of policing in our society. Police protect & enforce the existing social order. That is their job. That's been their job from the jump. It's why police departments developed.
No matter what the social order of the day is, police serve to protect it. Whether its the various iterations of colonialism, chattel enslavement, Jim Crow, or the iron fist of industrial (and other forms) of capitalism, police are the foot soldiers of the social order.
So, if one has an issue w/ the existing social order, it naturally follows that one would also have an issue w/ the front-line foot soldiers enforcing (violently) that social order. That is what police abolition is all about. It's why police abolition is really the only answer.
Thus, it follows that folks who say they have a problem with law enforcement, but fail to identify and condemn the current social order that law enforcement exists to protect, are hustling backwards and/or thoroughly confused.
If you want to see an end to police killings, brutality, harassment, and abuse, you had better start severely critiquing the social order we live in...
...and that social order is capitalist, white supremacist, and patriarchal, if you didn't know.
