TIPS FOR BEING A GOOD ALLY:
first and foremost, listen to the lived experiences of people. their experiences and their information is the most valuable resource we can have as allies. read their threads, their published papers, sign their petitions, share their videos and posts
do your own research!!! do not rely entirely on people of colour to educate you. they're really busy fighting the good fight, we need to do our own work too. unlearn internalized racism and prejudices, research what the BLM movement is doing. share things! get the word out!
I know it's not always possible during a pandemic, but get involved! act on your solidarity by joining protests and standing with them in the frontlines if you can
use your privilege to help make THEIR voices heard! share their words directly from the source, help in creating spaces, whether publicly or online, where POC voices are SEEN and HEARD. reach out to see what you can do! share petitions, calls to action, look into local activism!!
and the last thing I'm gonna add to this thread for now is this: if you have any other tips for being an active ally, please comment them here! I'll never claim to have "finished" learning how to be an ally: allyship is a constant process and there's always room for improvement
