/6 THREAD: There are a few reasons why I& #39;m NOT #StickingWithEd and supporting @joekennedy. However, there& #39;s one issue that finally made me want to join #TeamKennedy. Career and technical education, the good kind of CTE.
/6 I& #39;m a graduate of Greater Lowell Tech HS and I& #39;ve seen firsthand the value of CTE and the impacts it has on communities. The training it provides can bring good-paying jobs to families that need it and close the skills gap (a lack of skilled labor in the United States).
/6 There is a lot of stigma around career and technical education. Being a student of a technical high school I& #39;ve felt it time and time again. From people saying "the voke is a joke" or just people thinking tech students aren& #39;t well educated.
/6 @edmarkey may support Perkins reauthorizations, however, that& #39;s about it. @joekennedy is an outspoken supporter of CTE. From being a member of the CTE Caucus to giving the Democratic Response to the SOTU from Diman RVTHS.
/6 This is an example of when there& #39;s more to this job than "the way you vote and bills you file." Career and technical education isn& #39;t fun or sexy, but it& #39;s necessary.
/6 @joekennedy is willing to put in the work into something that is overlooked and doesn& #39;t gain him any political capital. That& #39;s one of the *many* reasons why I& #39;m with Joe.
