/6 THREAD: There are a few reasons why I'm NOT #StickingWithEd and supporting @joekennedy. However, there's one issue that finally made me want to join #TeamKennedy. Career and technical education, the good kind of CTE.
/6 I'm a graduate of Greater Lowell Tech HS and I've seen firsthand the value of CTE and the impacts it has on communities. The training it provides can bring good-paying jobs to families that need it and close the skills gap (a lack of skilled labor in the United States).
/6 There is a lot of stigma around career and technical education. Being a student of a technical high school I've felt it time and time again. From people saying "the voke is a joke" or just people thinking tech students aren't well educated.
/6 @edmarkey may support Perkins reauthorizations, however, that's about it. @joekennedy is an outspoken supporter of CTE. From being a member of the CTE Caucus to giving the Democratic Response to the SOTU from Diman RVTHS.
/6 This is an example of when there's more to this job than "the way you vote and bills you file." Career and technical education isn't fun or sexy, but it's necessary.
/6 @joekennedy is willing to put in the work into something that is overlooked and doesn't gain him any political capital. That's one of the *many* reasons why I'm with Joe.
