This is a failure of people to understand that systems and methods they've been conditioned to normalize as needed to control "problem" communities will eventually be used to control them as well

This is because they've been taught to ethnicize the problem and see it's consequences as entirely cordoned off to one community and having no effect on society as a whole. So the importance of it becomes a matter of empathy.

I see people argue over police unarmed shooting statistics and whether blacks or whites are shot more based on per capita etc. This is a child's argument that obscures a larger truth

Yes, the cops disproportionately kill PoC. However, we also have one of the most militarized, hyper violent unaccountable police forces in the world and that is only allowable because of the accepted narrative that there is an innately criminal population that requires it

Racism is so deleterious to our society and it's ability to think clearly that a significant number of people are okay with heavily armed roving gangs of wife beaters acting as an occupying force because someone told them a vague story about how they will only target "bad guys"
