Listen, if you don't understand the connection between systemic racism and looting, it's because you are still firmly invested in the social contract. Politicians, police, educators, military; these authorities still uphold the social contract for you, and in turn you uphold..
your side of the contract. You protect me, and I will be an orderly, well behaved citizen🤝
What you need to understand is, these individuals have come to understand that the social contract does not apply to them. Even if they hold up their end of the contract and be orderly...
well behaved citizens, there is no guarantee that they will be protected by these same institutions. If anything, they are seeing that the social contract as it stands is disproportionately victimizing them. The institutions are not only failing to protect them; they are the harm
So then, when you see looting, you see the complete destruction of social contract. The loss of faith, trust, community, everything it takes for a SOCIETY to function.

Take yourself out of the privilege of being a respected and honoured part of the social contract. Imagine...
what it would be like if the police didn't protect you, the politicians didn't work for you, the very fabric of the society you are expected to go along with is organized to destroy you, and tell me then that you wouldn't also opt the fuck out.

Am I saying I support or condone vandalism and looting? No. What I am saying is, understand it. Understand the connection between a broken social system and the rise of anarchy. Understand that when you fail to make the connection, it's because the contract works for you.
