re. YouTuber Myka Stauffer - some thoughts. I'll preface by saying I never heard of her or her family until today. Unlike my 14 y/o daughter I don't pay much attn. to YT shows so none of them are celebrities to me, although I realize some of them have huge audiences & made much $
I personally would not turn my life into a reality show. Not even if I was sorta famous a couple decades ago and was trying to squeeze the last drop out of my fame. Certainly not as a way to achieve fame to begin with. I'm all for chasing fame/glory but there are other ways.
But no judgement of Myka Stauffer in that regard b/c I knock nobody's hustle even if isn't my particular cup of tea. Apparently plenty of people watched her slickly produced day-to-day online. She's no "look at my life" pioneer. These shows aren't for me but others are into it.
Apparently Myka Stauffer & her husband have formed a family through adoptions. Good for them. Apparently it didn't work out for them with 1 child who is Autistic. I gather this came as a surprise. Adoption allows selection criteria. Potential parents go into it knowing what...
they can handle and knowing what they can't handle. Or would prefer not to handle. Adoptive parents may be open to an interracial family, as Myka Stauffer apparently was. Others are not. Adoptive parents may be well equipped to deal with significant health or emotional challenges
Or they may not be. There is no right or wrong answer. Adoptive parents must be honest with themselves & then with the agency about what they are ready to take on and what they are not. If that happens then things should work out beautifully. But life throws curve balls sometimes
So regardless of whether Myka Stauffer happens to be a prominent YouTuber or some random person I never came to know about, I am not here to judge. My family is my family (and it's not for display on YT). Her family is her's. Your family is your's. We're all in glass houses here.
So maybe we should keep our stones in our pockets. Here's a piece I wrote which is not about an adoptive family (it's a tale of artificial insemination), that I was reminded of while writing this thread. I did a little judging here.
