Police brutality isn't just an American thing, as I've seen a few people try to paint it. It happens right in front of everyones door.

To showcase that: Here is a thread about police brutality in Germany
According to a study there are fives times more cases of police brutality than those that are being reported. Yearly, there are about 2000 cases of police brutality being reported but the study and media puts the number way higher to 1000-12 000 cases a year.
That means that around 80% of police brutality cases are not being reported.
(Note: The study is not viewed as very representative. It is the only one I found. There is not a lot of coverage on police brutality in Germany)
71% of the 3.375 participants who said they experienced police brutality said they were physically hurt.
Every 5th person had strong injuries such as broken bones.
Most of the mistakes that the police make are simply not acknowledged in the police force. When collegues make a mistake, no one reports them.
While most of the police brutality takes place at demostrations, big events and soccer games, there are also other cases. Many people don't report the officers as they have no hope to get justice. They fear a contraindictation or that the cops won't be identified or charged anyway
Victims dont get justice. In 2018 only in 2% of cases there was an impeachment against cops who were brutal while being on the job.
In 93% of the cases in the study investigations against officers were stopped mostly due to lack of proof.
In only 7 of 3.400 cases the officers were convicted.
❗Most cases of police brutality outside of demostrations or big events involve POC and people with an immigrant background. Those cases for example most likely happen during controls❗
The brutality can have different formes. Often the participants mentioned hits and bursts, then being kept and held strongly, kicked and being wrongfully held captive. During big events pepper spray also play a huge factor.
Cases of gun violence and taesers appear to be low.
A third of the people who experienced police brutality had to go to the doctor afterwards.
9% searched psychological help.
Every 5th person had trouble sleeping.
10% isolated themselves.
Here is an examples of police brutality in Germany. It is the only example I have found that was described in detail, but there are many more stories like this, as I stated above especially involving people with immigrant backgrounds:
During Pride 2016 a man, Sven W., helped to women who were having a fight with a man in a fast food restaurant. Police thought he was one of the attackers.
They slapped him, beat him, kicked him and used homophobic language against him. He was arrested and let go seven hours later only dressed in his underwear. He stated that his whole body hurt.
He posted pictures of his injuries on Facebook that were used in court. But it wasn't him who got them in front of said court: The police accused him of wanting to hurt the police officers.
Sven was acquitted two times. Yet, the state wanted to check the verdict again. The police of Cologne distanced themselves from the the accusation.

There are investigations against the policemen who wanted to put the fault on Sven but no one was charged as of now.
Disclaimer: With this thread I am not trying to take attention away from the fucked up things that are happening in America. I only want to point out that police brutality is problem everywhere and we need to help those who are victims of it.
It is not an American problem. People of colour have to fear white policemen everywhere. And if you are white you need to use your priviledge to help your peers. Here is a thread of things you can do. George Floyd and his family deserve justice.
